FriendBell is not an emergency service
FriendBell must never be relied on to contact emergency services or to reach someone urgently. In an emergency in Australia, call 000.
A call won't connect
Check, in this order: the friendship is approved by both parents; calling isn't paused for the child or the family; School Mode or Bedtime Mode isn't active; the child's status isn't Busy or Do Not Disturb; and the child's device still has microphone (and camera, for video) permission. Every one of these is enforced on our servers, so the child's screen will simply say the friend can't be reached right now.
Video is greyed out
Video requires both parents to have enabled video calling for their own child. If either side is off, the call stays voice-only.
A group call won't start
Group calling must be enabled for the child, the group must be active, and each invited child's own parent must allow group calls. Children whose parents have not enabled group calls are simply not rung.
My child forgot their PIN
Open the parent dashboard, tap Controls on the child's card, then the child's PIN settings, and set a new PIN. Repeated wrong PIN attempts temporarily lock sign-in; the lock clears on its own or when you reset the PIN.
The device opens the wrong child's screen
A device is assigned to one child at a time. Go to Child Devices in the parent dashboard, revoke the device, then assign it again to the correct child and re-open the app on that device.
Incoming calls don't ring
Notifications must be allowed on the child's device, and the device must stay signed in. On iPad and iPhone, install FriendBell from the App Store and open it there, then accept the notification prompt. Silent mode, Focus modes and Screen Time limits set by the operating system can also suppress the ring.
Parent Access asks for a PIN
Parent screens on a child's device are protected by your Parent PIN. If you've forgotten it, sign in to FriendBell as the parent on any other device and set a new Parent PIN.
I want to delete our account
Use data deletion or Settings → Delete my account and data. Deletion removes the parent account, all child profiles, friendships, groups, devices, notification registrations and call records.
